vera market bag
This sweet little market bag was designed to replicate a traditional string bag, using granny squares instead! The granny squares are only slightly different to the original design, omitting the second treble in each 3-treble cluster for a chain stitch to produce a lacy, mesh-like bag.
This bag is large and sturdy enough for a trip to the market, keeping all your fruits and veggies safe and sound on the journey home. The handles are long enough to throw over your shoulder, but the pattern could be customised for a short-handle version. It’s an intermediate pattern but I encourage confident beginners to have a go!
Vera requires 193m of Yarn A and 129m for the squares. This pattern calls for DK-weight cotton yarn, but feel free to play around with different yarns that block well.
This pattern is available in both UK & US terminology so you don’t have to translate stitches!
